SUPPORT
How can we help?
Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Still stuck? Drop us a line at hello@seefax.tv and we’ll help you out.
▶ GETTING STARTED
Do I need an IPTV subscription to use seefax?
Yes. seefax is a player — it doesn’t provide any content of its own. You’ll need an existing subscription from an IPTV provider of your choice. If you don’t have one yet, a quick search for “IPTV provider” will point you to options.
How do I add my provider?
When you first open seefax you’ll be asked to add a provider. You can either paste your details (copy the URL your provider gave you and paste it in — seefax works out the format for you), or scan a QR code from your phone so you don’t have to type anything on the remote.
Which formats does seefax support?
seefax supports Xtream Codes (the most common) and M3U playlist links. If your provider gave you a server address, username and password, that’s Xtream Codes. If they gave you a single link ending in .m3u or .m3u8, that’s M3U.
Does it work without internet?
Partly. Your channel list is saved on the device, so the app will still open and show your channels. You won’t be able to play anything, though, since live streams and on-demand need an active connection to your provider.
▶ PLAYBACK
A channel won’t load. What should I try?
Go back and select the channel again, check the device’s internet is working, then try a different channel. If others play fine, it’s that one stream. If nothing plays, check with your provider — they may be having an outage or your subscription may have lapsed.
I’m seeing a “refused” or “not authorised” error.
This usually means one of two things: your subscription has expired, or your provider limits how many devices can stream at once. If you’ve another device or tab open and streaming, close it and try again.
The picture is blurry or keeps buffering.
Try Settings → Playback → Default stream quality and lower it. It’s also worth checking your internet speed — live HD streams need around 10 Mbps to play smoothly.
How do I change the audio or subtitles?
Press the Menu button on your remote while watching. A panel appears with the audio tracks and subtitles available for that stream.
▶ ACCOUNT & SYNC
Do I need a seefax account?
No. seefax works fully without one. An account is only useful if you’d like to sync your settings, favourites and history across more than one screen.
How do I sync across devices?
Sign in with the same Google or email account on each one (Settings → Account → Sign in). Once you’re in, your providers, favourites, history and preferences sync between them automatically — phone, tablet or TV.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. It’s permanent and can’t be undone, and it removes everything we hold about you. The app keeps working afterwards using what’s saved on your device.
▶ FEATURES
What is a Tuned In folder?
A saved keyword search. Give it a name and up to five keywords, and seefax scans your guide and on-demand catalogue to show you what’s on now, coming up, and available to watch. Handy if you follow certain shows or sports and don’t want to go hunting.
What are Smart Folders?
Folders that build themselves from how you watch. “Most Watched” ranks the channels you spend the most time on, “Top Categories” does the same for genres. They update as you go — no setup needed.
How does the sleep timer work?
While watching, press OK for the overlay and choose “Sleep timer”. Pick a length (15 up to 120 minutes) or “End of programme” / “End of film”. The app fades out and returns to your channel list when the time’s up, with a two-minute warning first.
What is QR pairing?
It saves you typing on the remote. seefax shows a QR code on the screen, you scan it, fill in your details on your phone, and the TV connects itself.
▶ PRIVACY & DATA
Does seefax show ads?
No. There’s no advertising, no ad network, and no data sharing with advertisers. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Do you store my provider password?
Your details are kept on your device. If you’re signed into an account they’re also synced to your own private, encrypted document that only you can read. We never see them, and they’re never sent to us.
How do I raise a privacy concern?
Email privacy@seefax.tv. We take privacy seriously and will reply within 30 days.
